We offer a unique combination of programs that includes:
- New home builds;
- Home repairs and revitalization;
- Financial education, advocacy and referrals.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of a thrift store?
Thrift stores exist primarily to support charitable missions, reduce waste through reuse, and (as a side benefit) provide affordable goods. At our ReStore, every purchase directly supports local Habitat for Humanity efforts to build and repair homes for families in need.
What is the best day of the week to go to thrift stores?
It depends on the store, but many shoppers prefer midweek (Tuesday–Thursday) when stores are less crowded and new items may have just been put out. Keep an eye on our social media or visit often because our inventory changes hourly.
What day do most thrift stores restock?
Restocking happens throughout the day, depending on donations and space. At our ReStore, we receive and process donations daily, so new items hit the floor regularly. This happens sometimes multiple times a day.
When’s the best time to go thrifting?
Mornings usually offer the best selection and a quieter shopping experience. If you’re looking for something specific or want the first pick of new arrivals, stopping by early, and often, is your best strategy. Donations come in throughout the day, and even our new inventory is processed and put out continuously, so there’s always something fresh hitting the floor.
What do thrift stores usually sell?
Thrift stores typically sell furniture, home goods, décor, tools, building supplies, and clothing. At our ReStore, we specialize in home improvement items and furniture! Plus, we carry brand-new clothing and Boutique items at great prices.
Why are thrift stores so cheap?
Most items are donated, allowing thrift stores to offer goods at significantly lower prices than retail. Our goal is to make quality items accessible to everyone while raising funds for our housing mission.
Is everything in a thrift store used?
Not always. While many items are second-hand, our ReStore also receives donations of brand-new goods. This includes clothing, home décor, and building materials, from generous local businesses and community partners.
Our team is always looking to build new partnerships. If you know of a business or individual interested in donating new items, please let us know. We’d love to connect!
What do thrift stores do with stuff they don’t sell?
Unsold items are typically rotated off the floor after a certain period. At our ReStore, we work hard to minimize waste by recycling, repurposing, sharing with other ReStores and other local charities, or deeply discounting items to give them a second chance before considering disposal.
Where do thrift stores get their items?
Most thrift stores rely on donations from individuals, retailers, and businesses. Our ReStore accepts donated furniture, appliances, tools, building supplies, and more. A lot of it is in excellent or like-new condition.
Where does the money go from thrift stores?
Every dollar spent at our ReStore directly supports Habitat for Humanity’s work in Summit and Wasatch Counties. This helps to build safe, affordable homes and improve living conditions for local families in need.
